paperback. Condition: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only. Val Biro (illustrator).…

Story Summary: Libby, the resourceful library cat, is outraged when the local newspaper brands a human thief a "Cat Burglar." She rallies a gang of local cats—including the sleek police cat Percy, the tough old ginger tom Old Scrounger, the shop cat Sally and her kittens, the plump school cat Sam, and the fluffy Snowy—to catch the real culprit. Full of humour, clever teamwork, and wonderful Val Biro illustrations depicting village life, rooftops, and mischievous cats. A perfect bedtime read for ages 4-8, celebrating feline ingenuity and community. Author - H.E. Todd (Herbert Eatton Todd, 1908-1988): A prolific and much-loved English children's author best known for his warm, humorous stories featuring everyday adventures. Todd drew inspiration from real animals and children he encountered during his storytelling visits to schools and libraries. He created enduring characters like Bobby Brewster and wrote numerous picture books in the 1970s-1980s. His gentle, moral tales often featured animals with strong personalities. Other popular titles include The Very Very Long Dog, The Scruffy Scruffy Dog, and The Crawly Crawly Caterpillar. Illustrator - Val Biro (1921-2014): Born Balint Stephen Biro in Hungary, Val Biro was a renowned British illustrator, author, and artist who settled in the UK after WWII. He illustrated over 400 books and became one of the most recognisable names in mid-20th-century children's publishing. His lively, expressive watercolour style—full of character, movement, and charming detail—perfectly suits animal stories. Biro collaborated frequently with H.E. Todd and illustrated many classic titles. He also wrote and illustrated his own books, including the Gumdrop car adventure series. His work is highly collectible for its warmth and narrative energy. Edition Notes: This is the 1985 Corgi paperback (Picture Corgi S.). The true first edition appeared earlier that year from Hodder & Stoughton (hardcover, ISBN 0340369515). Printing history and copyright details are present on the verso as per the photos. UK £1.50 original price on back cover. This is a delightful, increasingly nostalgic title for collectors of 1980s children's illustrated books, Val Biro fans, or cat-themed stories. A wonderful addition to any children's literature collection or for reading aloud to young animal lovers. Val Biro (illustrator).…
