In folio (32,3x21 cm); (14 di 16 pp. manca, come in alcuni esemplari, l'antiporta calcografica, per il resto completo), 400, (56) pp. Bellissima legatura coeva in piena pergamena in stile blaviano con cornice in doppio filetto ai piatti e ornamento a secco al centro dei piatti. Titolo manoscritto da mano coeva al dorso. Antica firma di appartenenza privata anticamente cancellata al frontespizio ma ancora in parte leggibile "Ex Libris Gulliel.". Antico rinforzo al recto del frontespizio a rinforzare la carta. Antica pecetta di rinforzo al margine basso bianco della seconda carta ed al margine esterno bianco basso della terza carta ad integrare un leggerissimo strappetto, ininfluente e per il resto esemplare, in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione. Prima non comune edizione di quest'importantissima opera considerata la prima bibliografia dedicata agli scrittori napoletani, lavoro del celebre giurista, storico e bibliografo, Niccolò Toppi (Chieti, 24 maggio 1607 Napoli, 1681). Questa monumentale opera è, tutt'ora una delle fonti bibliografiche più importanti di tutta la storiografia delle provincie meridionali d'Italia ed è considerata come una delle prime moderne bibliografie. Storico ed archivista di riconosciuta abilità a lui si devono alcune delle opere storiche e giuridiche dedicate al territorio meridionale, più importanti del suo tempo. Nato a Chieti nel 1607, decise di lasciare la città in direzione Napoli, 1647 quando la sua casa venne data alle fiamme e con essa bruciarono anche diversi importanti manoscritti storici. Sembra che l'incendio fosse stato appiccato durante dei tumulti popolari come rappresaglia verso l'autore, reo di essere stato l'artefice dell'acquisizione delle città da parte del duca di Castel di Sangro, Ferdinando Carracciolo, al servizio del quale era Toppi. La sua fama però, era già tale che arrivato a Napoli fu, quasi subito, eletto Magistrato della Regia Camera della Sommaria. Le sue ricerche di manoscritti e lapidarie inerenti il territorio di Napoli sono ancora oggi, considerate di grande importanza e furono favorite da potenti protezioni come quelle dei cardinali Ottavio Acquaviva e Francesco Maria Brancaccio. La sua "Biblioteca" venne completata, qualche anno dopo, da Lionardo Nicodemo con la sua opera "Addizioni copiose alla Biblioteca Napoletana del Dottor N. Toppi", uscita nel 1683. Rif.
