Condition: Good. 1946. First Edition. 224 pages. Beige pictorial dust jacket over beige cloth. Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Light wear to unclipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners. Light tanning to spine and edges.

Some edge wear, chipping and creasing to top and bottom of largely pale grey jacket and spine, corners and folds rubbed, corners bruised, 1" loss to top of spine, some slight overall dust and time staining, price clipped, gift inscription to top ffep, internally clean tight and almost square, overall a vg+ copy for its age. 224pp. An intriguing tale of undercover activities in North Africa, based on colourful Arab superstitions of the 'Silver Hand of Alexander the Great' and its mysterious powers as a talisman. Mark Torry is truly a forgotten author, I have been able to find out nothing about him. This is probably his one and only, very scarce, book.
