Die Autoren sind bemüht, einen weltweiten, möglicht vollständigen Überblick über Literatur zum Thema Film - von seinen Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart - vorzulegen. Eingeteilt in die (systematisch untergliederten) Hauptkategorien Nachschlagewerke, Filmgeschichte, Länder-Filmstudien, Monographien, Theorie und Kritik, Technik, Politik…und Wirtschaft sowie TV und Multimedia, werden die eruierten Titel chronologisch angeordnet und mit kurzen bibliographischen Angaben präsentiert. Daß das Werk vornehmlich akademischen Ansprüchen gerecht werden will, mag entschuldigen, daß zahlreiche populäre Titel vermißt werden. Bei den Monographien/Biographien sind zum größten Teil nur Regisseure berücksichtigt, Schauspieler fanden gelegentlich Zugang, wenn sie auf Grund ihrer "exzeptionellen Stellung prägend für die Filmgeschichte" wurden (wie beispielsweise Bogart, Dietrich, Welles, Monroe oder Eastwood). Eine generelle Erfassung von Schauspielern hätte nach Meinung der Autoren den Umfang des Werkes gesprengt; ihr Fehlen hinterläßt bei einem engagierten Projekt wie dem vorliegenden eine große, schmerzliche Lücke - gehört doch gerade der Komplex Schauspieler im filmbibliographischen Bereich zu den bevorzugten Recherchegbieten. Ein späteres Erscheinen und einen höheren Preis hätten die meisten Interessenten für diese Bibliographie bei entsprechender Erweiterung sicher gerne in Kauf genommen. Ein Buchtitel-Register im Anhang wäre von zusätzlichem Nutzen gewesen; Autoren- und Filmtitel-Register sind vorhanden. Auf einen Personenindex konnte verzichtet werden, da die Namen in der Kategorie Monographien alphabetisch angeordnet sind. Zweisprachig englisch/deutsch. Zustand: mit sauberen Wortunterstreichungen, ansonsten tadellos bis neuwertig FP 25x18. 1054g.
