Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. First edition, first impression. xxx, 288pp, plus eight maps of which one folding. Quarter bound in tan leather over paper-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Top edge gilt. 8vo. Covers are worn and slightly soiled, rubbed on edges and quite heavily around spine. Hint of foxing on endpapers else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Sephton's translation of the old Norse saga of King Sverri (Sverre). Said to have been commissioned by the king himself and thus perhaps somewhat one-sided, the saga covers his rise to power and the events of his reign from 1184 to 1202. An uncommon work.
