Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company. Her sister, Mary Lily Flagler Bingham inherited the Flagler fortune and when she died in 1917 Sarah Graham Kenan received a third share of it. Over her lifetime, Kenan's gifts to charitable foundations and educational institutions exceeded $12 million. No. 42 in the Praeger Library of U.S. Government Departments and Agencies.
