Gift inscription neatly inked inside front cover, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Orphan Frederick Ricketts (1881-1945), under the pen name Kenneth J Alford, composed largely music for military bands. Many of his marches are considered fine examples of the art. He was a bandmaster in the British Army and Director of Music for the Royal Marines.
