Original red cloth with gilt stamped spine. Worn with fraying to head of spine. Foxing to endleaves. Internally clean. A good copy. $40. * First edition. A title in the Notable British Trials series. The trial of Adolf Beck (1904) is a remarkable example of a genuine miscarriage of justice. Tried, convicted, and sentenced to seven years of penal servitude, Beck was later proven innocent. The Beck case led to the creation of the Court of Criminal Appeal in 1907.
