"With great enthusiasm he briefly popularized the Sistro, or timpano musicale, a kind of glockenspiel, of which he was no doubt a virtuoso exponent. It was invented by G.B. Ariosti, of whose little instruction manual Modo facile di suonare il sistro nomato il timpano (Bologna, 1686) he brought out (using the name Paradossi) an enlarged and corrected second edition (Bologna, 1695, repr. 1933, 3/1702). The manual includes 44 dance tunes for the sistro in a special numerical notation, and Troili (now using this name) later published in normal notation a separate volume of dances for it, Balletti capricciosi, e diversi sul timpano musicale accompagnati dal basso" (Grove Music Online).

This book provides detailed instructions for a technique known as the Scheinerian Parallogram, which enables artists to accurately capture and reproduce objects and scenes with a high degree of precision. This technique revolutionized the practice of drawing and painting by introducing a systematic method for replicating perspectives and proportions, and had a profound influence on the development of art during the Renaissance and beyond. The author, a mathematician and contemporary of the inventor of the technique, provides a step-by-step guide to constructing and using the Parallogram, including detailed diagrams and explanations of the mathematical principles involved. He also explores the various applications of the technique, from drawing simple shapes to creating complex and detailed compositions. This book is a valuable resource for artists of all levels who wish to improve their drawing skills and gain a deeper understanding of the principles of perspective. It offers a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of artistic techniques and the enduring legacy of the Parallogram, which remains an essential tool for artists to this day. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Leclerc: Les origines italiennes de l'architecture théatrale moderne, p. 181) e l'architettura militare.''Troili, a pupil of the quadratura painter Michelangelo Colonna, became scene painter for the Farnese theatre at Parma. Ferdinando Bibiena saw his work there (probably after the artist's death) and absorbed its influence. This original edition of Troili's exceptionally handsome book on perspective is one of the real milestones in the history of theatrical scenery: it describes the conscious use of visual deception, the creation of greater 'depth' by means of oblique positioning of the wings, as common practice twenty years before Pozzo'' (Breman in Architectural Theory and Practice III-B-24).
