First Edition
Softcover. Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. [nice clean copy with minimal shelfwear, some uneven fading to the front cover (along left and top edges), some surface wear to the rear cover]. Trade PB (B&W photographs) A "dual biography" of country singer Kitty Wells and her husband, singer-songwriter Johnnie Wright, who in turn was one-half of the musical duo Johnnie & Jack (the other being Jack Anglin, who died in 1963); because of the latter connection, the book is also blurbed as "chronicling the career of Johnny [sic] & Jack." A weirdly-written and -formatted book: for one thing, the author seems to think that each sentence needs to be its own paragraph (although the occasional paragraph is a whole two sentences in length); for another, he insists on rendering Wright's first name, throughout the book as well as on the cover, as "Johnny," when it is spelled "Johnnie" in the vast majority of instances. It is, nonetheless, a detailed (bordering on exhausting) chronicle of its subjects' recording sessions, album releases, record-chart positions, etc. There are also asides about the careers (such as they were) of two of Kitty and Johnnie's children, Bobby and Ruby Wright, which results in such weird inclusions as a chapter about the casting and production of the 1960s TV sitcom "McHale's Navy," on which Bobby had a small recurring role as radioman Willy Moss.
