A Very Good copy in original orange wrappers printed in black and red, price label afixed to front cover in a later board slipcase. 175 pp. 28 illustrations after woodcuts by Foujita. Wrappers are rubbed and partially separated though intact with loss to one corner. Many titles were published in this series of "Le Livre de Demain" but this volume is partically collectible because of the witty woodcuts by the young expatriate Japanese artist primarily known for his cat paintings and illustrations. There is not a cat to be found in any of these woodcuts, which makes this production even more special.

The text is entirely in Japanese characters, albeit the images reproduced here pertain to the artist's time spent in France. This is THE Foujita, but without his much revered cats. A Very Good copy. Couverture rigide. Condition: Bon. Léonard Tsugouharu Foujita (1886-1968) (illustrator). Bel ex-libris en bleu sur papier japon - tirage à 100 exemplaires - type II - (97*73mm) représentant une sirène, symbole de Youki, que Foujita lui avait tatouée sur la cuisse. Elle fit plusieurs tirages de cet ex-libris, de différentes tailles et couleurs et sur différents papiers. Le dessin de cette sirène est typique du travail de Foujita autour des années 1925. On ne connait que deux ex-libris de Foujita : celui de Youki et celui du docteur Morisot. Les deux sont très rares. Très belle estampe, très beau tirage sur japon.

Publiée dans le milieu des années 50 par Eric Losfeld, cette édition est ornée de 20 illustrations en noir, non signées, attribuées à Foujita. 12 sont dans le texte ( 4 sont répétés ), les autres sont hors texte. Jean-Pierre Dutel indique dans son indispensable Bibliographie des ouvrages érotiques publiés clandestinement en français entre 1920 et 1970 sous le n°2052 que Eric Losfeld, à la page 79 de ses mémoires, montre encore une fois tout son humour : " Pour rester parmi les grands noms de la peinture érotique, j'ai écrit moi-même un livre que j'ai illustré de dessins d'un célèbre " Montparno ". Il ne l'a jamais su d'ailleurs, parce que c'étaient des dessins qu'il avait fait probablement d'une façon vénale, avant sa fameuse conversion au catholicisme, mais c'étaient tout de même des dessins signés Foujita, où l'on ne voyait que des bonnes surs en train de forniquer ". Cet ouvrage sera condamné pour la première fois le 6 février 1954. Tirage unique à 250 exemplaires numérotés au composteur sur papier Hymen de Colombe ( n° 103 ).
