Very good album with some bowing, toning, and rubbing with about near fine photographs with some staining on . A photo album compiled by Albert M. Turney in 1905 with artistically handwritten captions throughout, some of which are humorous including one which reads, "John D. Rock-a-Fellow." The early part of the album shows a Victorian home including interior shots, furniture, upholstery, wallpapers, and screens. A young man, presumably Mr. Turney, is seen reading. An older couple is also pictured throughout, writing letters and reading or posed with books. One of these photos shows a woman posed in a sitting room with a caption reading "Miss Primm;" another reads, "what shall I say?" Other images show the three family members posed around the house with captions that read, "the haymakers," "men and the boy," and "just arrived after a trip." Turney also features scenic landscapes and town views including a shot of a rail station and a man with a horse-drawn reaping machine. Later images show a picnic on Lake Champlain with the family in a group posed by their wagon and another by the lake. One of the photos shows the "entrance to Digger Indian dance hall;" another shows a train wreck in the Southwest. The State Normal School and gardens of an institute in Chico, California are also seen here. It appears Turney also participated in an early reenactment as there are images of artillery wagons and several references to Sherman in the captions. A wonderful collection of turn-of-the-century photographs.
