The "old Northwest" here is defined as Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. Reads a bit like a PhD dissertation, although there is no indication that it was one. Several appendices contain numerous maps, tables and documents pertaining to the population in the states in question, and their attitudes towards Texas and the war. 7½ x 9½ inches, 320 pages.
