Includes tables showing the weight of livers taken from autopsies, etc. deaths of British troops from biliary diseases serving in the Mediterranean, America, Africa, W & E Indies, etc. William Twining's treatise; p.237-332 contains case studies with name, age, complexion and occupation (including names of vessels for sailors) of patients. Twining was the first assistant surgeon in the General Hospital, Calcutta, India. In his early career he was attached to British troops fighting Napoleon's Army and was a witness to the victory in Waterloo. Rare book.
