1st Edition. 1st ed., original cloth boards decorated in gilt (ecclesiastical design upper board), mounted photographic portrait plate frontis, two maps (one folding, printed in red and black), title page vignette plus text illus, pp xii, 323. N.d. (1881). From the library of the Parliament of Victoria, with their shelf label on spine plus a few scattered stamps. Few small marks, inner hinge starting, fore-edge of rear free endpaper silverfished. Very good condition. William Tyrrell (1807-1879) was the first Anglican Bishop of Newcastle, New South Wales. The book includes chapters on the gold rush, and missionary work in Melanesia and New Zealand. Ferguson 7270.
