An homage to Jacques Monod, who won the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1965, shared with Francois Jacob and Andre Lwoff "for their discoveries concerning genetic control of enzyme and virus synthesis." Jacques Lucien Monod was a French biochemist who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1965, sharing it with François Jacob and Andrà Lwoff "for their discoveries concerning genetic control of enzyme and virus synthesis". Andrà Michel Lwoff was a French microbiologist of Russian-Polish origin. Agnes Ullmann was also a noted French microbiologist. She moved from Budapest to Paris in 1958 to work with Jacques Monod, François Jacob and Elie Wollman at Institut Pasteur.
