(Figulus) aus Hersfeld, studirte in Marburg Jurisprudenz (immatriculirt 1532 im 1. Semester), wurde hier Magister und Professor der Grammatik (als solcher zuerst in der ersten Hälfte des Jahres 1542 genannt). Nachdem er hier den jungen Grafen von Waldeck privatim unterrichtet hatte, berief ihn Graf Philipp IV. von Waldeck zu sich und ernannte ihn zu seinem Secretär und Kanzler. 1556 erwarb er sich den Doctorhut in Marburg. Bereits 1559 rief ihn der Landgraf Philipp von neuem an die Universität Marburg und ertheilte ihm die Bestallung als Rath und Beisitzer des hessischen Hofgerichts (8. Mai 1559), doch bedang sich U. aus, viermal im Jahre zu dem Grafen von Waldeck auf dessen Erfordern reiten zu dürfen; die Uebersiedelung nach Marburg scheint er aber erst im Mai des folgenden Jahres bewerkstelligt zu haben.
