Add to baskethardcover. Condition: Very Good. Most of our very good books have only minor imperfections such as shelf wear consistent with a new book that's sat on a bookshop shelf for a year or two. Occasionally we may miss other minor imperfections as we have to grade books at speed. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Minus. So this is going to be an odd listing. The book is entirely in Japanese, a language I do not speak a word of. When I purchased the book some years ago, I put a slip of paper inside and wrote the words 'Residence of the Small Garden'. But now I have no idea where I got them from. So, I have provided a photograph of what may be the title page and hopefully that will help someone who speaks Japanese to identify the book. There are a great many photographs in this book, both in black-and-white and color, and they are in fact photographs of Japanese gardens. The book has 160 pages, 158 of them are numbered. There is an ISBN Number but when I used it no books came up, so the book may be quite rare. Here it is: ISBN4-259-53531-5. After that there is a little space and then the following: C0361. That's the best I can do. I can give you an idea of the condition of the book. It is quite square and straight, and very solidly bound. The pages are tight. There are no cracks or spaces. There are no binding issues anywhere in the book. I provided photographs of the pink covers. There is some very light soiling/darkening at some of the margins of the covers, and the spine has faded from pink to perhaps tan. There is little to no wear on the covers, a small dent on the bottom edge of the front. The page edges are quite clean. The interior pages are very clean. Scrolling through, I didn't see any soiling at all on any of the pages. The only soiling I saw were two small spots facing each other, one on the rear end paper and one on the rear inside cover. Also on the rear inside cover (the book goes from left to right) there is an inscription in a very neat green pen from one friend to another. The inscription is in English. Above it there is what appears to be a Japanese word in the same green pen. There is no other writing anywhere in the book, no names, no underlining, no notes, nothing. Nor are there any markings. And there aren't any attachments. The pages are in excellent condition, without any creasing or dogeared corners. They do have some age or sun toning at their margins. The book has a blue ribbon in very good condition. That pretty much covers it. I hope this is the book that someone has been looking for.

Uncertain (illustrator). The book is in fair condition given its close approach to one hundred and fifty years old. An illustrated hardbound edition, the cloth on the front cover is worn and the edges also bumped and torn. Spine is split here and there and some pages loose but all present except for title page. An extraordinary survivor from the Victorian age.

Softcover. Illustrated covers. Signed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on the title page. The Soviet Union and the Czechoslovak Army, 1948-1983: Uncertain Allegiance is the first book published by Condoleezza Rice, and is based on her doctoral dissertation. Originally published in 1984, the book examines the relationship between the Soviet Union and the Czechoslovak People's Army during the Cold War, exploring the dynamics of Soviet influence over Czechoslovakia's military and the challenges of maintaining loyalty within the Eastern Bloc. Rice's analysis focuses on how political and military pressures shaped the Czechoslovak military's role in the broader context of Soviet-East European relations. Signed.
