Political satire with a veneer of speculative fiction, a look back from 1935 at the political and social ramifications of the Mugwump assisted return to power of the Democratic party; a number of New Hampshire political figures are men…tioned by name. Among the predicted ramifications of the Democratic victory (aside from the usual liberal spending of tax dollars) is packing the Supreme Court and voiding the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments of the Constitution, depriving blacks of their citizenship, and granting pensions to Confederate soldiers and compensating the Southern states for their losses during the Civil War. (see pp. 18-21). This may have been written by C. F. Batchelder. The Batchelder family was prominent in New Hampshire and Massachusetts in the 1800s. THE BATTLE OF DORKING was a future-war fantasy published as a pamphlet in 1871, setting off a storm of sequels, rebuttals, counter rebuttals, etc. Old faint vertical mailing crease, a very good copy. Dickens worked on Barrow's staff at the 'Mirror of Parliament' for four years in the 1830s.

Vice President Wallace came from a family with a notable background in politics and agriculture. Born on October 7, 1888, in Orient, Iowa, he was the son of Henry C. Wallace and Carrie May Wallace. His father, Henry Cantwell Wallace, served as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture from 1921 until his death in 1924 under Presidents Harding and Coolidge. This role underscored the family's long-standing commitment to agricultural development and reform. Wallace's grandfather, "Uncle Henry" Wallace, was also a prominent figure in American agriculture. He was the founder of the influential farm journal "Wallace's Farmer," which achieved national distribution and played a crucial role in the advancement of agricultural practices and policies in the Midwest. His newspaper studied Iowa farms, pioneered crop rotation, and fertilization programs, thereby greatly increasing production yields. "Uncle Henry" died at the age of 80 in 1916, before this work on this life was published. The first edition of Uncle Henry's Own Story by Henry Wallace, signed by Vice President Henry A. Wallace. This work is about "Uncle Henry" Wallace, the father of Agriculture Secretary Henry C. Wallace and grandfather of Vice President Henry A. Wallac (illustrator). Signed.
