The evening was hosted by Hal Kanter, and among those who spoke were Philip Dunne, David Brown, Frank McCarthy, Mary Anita Loos, Jane Withers, John Payne, Cesar Romero, Sammy Cahn, Roddy McDowall, and Richard Widmark. (Zanuck's son Richard D. Zanuck was present, but apparently had nothing to say apart from introducing his mother, Virginia, who received a nice round of applause.).
