Solida legatura editoriale in piena tela rossa a cofanetto con laccetti conservati, Titolo impresso a secco sul piatto anteriore. Contiene 39 albumi…ne originali di Charles/Karl Bodmer, con timbro dello studio sull' ala grande del cofanetto. All' angolo sup. del front., dedica autografa di Marcel Vacher al ministro francese Jean Dupuy: « A Monsieur Jean Dupuy, Ministre de l' Agriculture, termoignage de gratitude et respectoise connaissance. Marcel Vacher, Janvier 1901 ». Qualche abile consolidamento alla cartellina, peraltro esemplare in stato di conservazione molto buono con tutte le fotografie ben scattate ed in ottimo stato di conservazione. Prima rara edizione, dall' illustre provenienza, di questa importante opera zootecnica di inizio '900 composta da una raccolta fotografica costituita da 39 albumine, tutte con legenda sul negativo, montate su cartone (54 cm x 36 cm); ogni grande fotografia, 38 cm x 21 cm, ritrae una delle 19 razze bovine francesi, sia il toro che la mucca rappresentate da tre angolazioni: viste di fronte, di fianco e di groppone. La fotografia, firmata e datata da Bodmer nell' angolo inferiore destro, è introdotta da un foglio volante con una scheda di testo, che presenta ciascuna delle razze e include informazioni sulle coppie di animali esposti: il nome dell' allevatore, le misure dell' animale, il suo pedigree e il colore del mantello. In fondo ad ogni scheda sono specificati i principali centri di riproduzione. Un testo fondamentale per la nuova zootecnia internazionale del '900, sia per ciò che riguarda il miglioramento della genetica della razza, sia per il miglioramento di allevamento e produttività. Charles (o Karl Henry) Bodmer, fotografo nato nei pressi di Barbizon e trasferitosi a Parigi, figlio del pittore e fotografo Karl Bodmer. Charles Bodmer ha avuto una lunga carriera nella fotografia agricola; Scattò numerose fotografie che servirono da supporto per tutte le competizioni agricole generali dal 1884. Per questo motivo, oltre alla famala fu insignito anche della medaglia al merito agricolo.
