That tradition is vividly portrayed in Gardens of Georgia, commissioned by the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., to commemorate its sixtieth anniversary and to celebrate the heritage and beauty of Georgia's gardens. As noted by Georgia founder James Oglethorpe in 1732, Georgia has a happy climate. From the broad-shouldered mountains of the Blue Ridge, through the red clay of the rolling piedmont, across the sprawling piney coastal plain, and on to the subtropical islands on the Atlantic, Georgia is blessed with four regions of gardening opportunities, distinctly defined by differences in elevation, climate, soil, and natural vegetation.Writer William Mitchell and photographer Richard Moore have portrayed the wonders of gardens historic and contemporary, public and private, and urban, suburban, and rural from each of these regions. Whether illustrating overall gardenscapes or capturing intimate vignettes and individual blossoms, Richard Moore's photographs have a depth of color and clarity of detail that immerse the reader into a world of delightful splendor. The text by Willaim Mitchell not only describes the settings as they are today, but also spins a rich background of history in the context of the botanical Eden observed by early explorers. The richest legacy of each generation is to preserve and protect an always vulnerable natural environment and help nature bring forth its green and glowing cycles of rebirth. Gardens of Georgia celebrates that legacy, sharing the ongoing dream of paradise--a new Eden--whether it is in a grand formal garden from an earlier era or a small plot of perennials in a Georgia yard. ; FINE/FINE. Condition: Very good. First Edition. Original draft screenplay for this sobering Afterschool Special on the dangers of drunk driving, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Val Kilmer, Mare Winningham, and the great Grace Zabriskie as the mother nobody listens to. The star-studded ONE TOO MANY aired on May 1, 1985, as the seventh episode of the 13th season, close to dead center of the long-running series. This tragic drama includes in-story depictions of the scare-tactic educational films once common in high school sex- and driver-ed classes (after viewing a gruesome close-up of a road accident victim, "Beth" (Winningham) compares and contrasts the previous year's "pictures of people with VD"). Where old-school driver's-ed films merely showed the consequences of reckless driving, ONE TOO MANY adds a layer and shows the consequences of ignoring those films - effectively an afterschool special about the danger of ignoring afterschool specials. Harmon's screenplay also shows insight in its choice of threatened outcomes: the mere thought of dying in a car accident won't scare a teen who plans to live forever. But what if your drunk boyfriend was Val Kilmer, and he had too many beers, and he wouldn't give up his keys without a fight, and you killed your best friend with his car just because your nerves were on edge, and they sent you to jail even though you were Michelle Pfeiffer and you never meant to hurt anybody? That's something to really think about. 11'' x 8.5''. Original brad-bound wrappers. Xeroxed text on rectos only. 57 pages. Light creasing and edgewear, red pen to front cover/title page, small stain to rear cover/last page.

First Edition. Quarto. 28cm. Velobind with clear acetate covers. 1080pp. A little toning to the clear acetate, and some minor dustiness to the page edges; internally clean and fresh. A very good, bright copy of an unwieldy volume. The fourth installment, essentially the fifth as Matrix III was published in two parts over three years, of Valerian/Grace's madly ambitious attempt to data hoard and distribute all of his collected information and research (from a startlingly erratic number of sources) regarding human consciousness, mind manipulation, UFO's, the spiritual evolution of mankind, the possibility of alien influence upon that development, and the nature of reality itself.
