Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. pp: 176. The book describes the long struggle to decipher the Mayan hieroglyphs on the many carved monuments throughout the Mayan territory. It took many years, almost to the beginning of the twenty-first century, to achieve the goal. In this book, the authors discuss The Nature of the Maya Script, how Time and the Calendar were inscribed on the stones, and how to decipher the life cycles of the Royal rulers. The text is illustrated throughout. This is a near fine copy in dust jacket, both virtually in unread condition. A memorial bookplate (for a prominent Canadian in the book publishing business) can be found on the front paste down.
