Vintage oversize borderless double weight photograph of Jacques Demy, attributed to Demy's wife, filmmaker Agnes Varda, circa 1961. Director Jacques Demy was one of few directors that never fit any one category within the Left Bank group of French New Wave filmmakers. He started with several short documentaries in the 1950s, and released his first feature film, "Lola," in 1960, starring Anouk Aimee. The often fantastic narrative of Demy's films reveal an auteur style, a trajectory that led him further from the norms of his New Wave colleagues. 11.5 x 8 inches. Light edgewear, else Near Fine.
