Two Original Handwritten and Signed Photograph and Postcard of the two Key members of the British Comedy 'On the Buses' namely Reg Varney and Bob Grant. Reginald Alfred Varney 1916 - 2008 was an English actor, entertainer and comedian. He is best remembered for having played the lead role of bus driver Stan Butler in the LWT sitcom On the Buses (1969-1973) and its three spin-off feature films. Having performed as a music hall entertainer, Varney first came to national recognition as factory foreman Reg Turner in the BBC sitcom The Rag Trade (1961-1963). He appeared in further sitcoms including Beggar My Neighbour (1966-1968) and On the Buses stardom facilitated overseas cabaret tours. The photograph is to a fan with a small note and signed Reg in the actor's hand. Probably late 1960's. Robert St Clair Grant 1932 - 2003 was an English actor and writer, best known for playing bus conductor letch Jack Harper in the television sitcom On the Buses, as well as its film spin-offs and stage version. The signature is from the play 'Anyone for Denis' in 1985. Sizes are 140mm x 90mm. Condition is good. Rear of the postcard with gum marks. Ref 19259. Signed by Author(s).
