L'auteur reprit le cours créé par Jules Raynaud (1842-1888) à l'École supérieure de télégraphie, à la mort de ce dernier. Cette école, fondée en 1878 par Louis-Adolphe Cochery, fut rebaptisée École Professionnelle Supérieure des Postes et Télégraphes (EPSPT), en 1888. Elle comportait alors deux sections : celle des élèves-ingénieurs et une nouvelle section d'élèves-administrateurs. Dans cet ouvrage, Vaschy présente le théorème de Léon Charles Thévenin (formule de simplification des schémas électriques publiée en 1883) et renvoie aux cours de MM. Cornu et Potier, qu'il a suivis à l'Ecole Polytechnique. Bel exemplaire.
