A very good copy. $1,650. * First edition. Del Vaulx, also known as Vallensis, taught canon law at the University of Louvain. De Beneficiis is a treatise on ecclesiastical benefices. A second edition was published in 1758. Both editions are rare. This book was issued by Robert and Catharina van de Zetten Jaye, the son and widow of Henry Jaye [d.1643], a Catholic English printer who lived in exile in Mechelin after he was indicted for publishing a slander against King James I. His career flourished there and he appears to have been, apparently without a formal title, the city's official printer.
