Includes 10 year historory of Venables Mout St Johns Press. Venables served in the Medical Corps of the New Zealand Army in the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia in WWII. During this time he produced many watercolours of soldiers, aircraft, landing craft and the paraphernalia of war. He exhibited in the 1952 Exhibition of Official War Paintings by New Zealand Artists. Finally stitched and bound the volume so well that it opens flat. The book took eight years, from handsetting and machining. First half of the book describes Venables war service. Second part describes his family life on a New Zealand farm. Clean burnt orange cloth on boards with black title and illustration of a soldier on front of cover. Soft touch of a lttle rubbing to spines frontside edge. Eps: illustrated from lino block woodcuts. Clean contents. Binding is VG+ albeit only slightly cocked. Landscape. 77p. Limited Edition.
