Quarter brown cloth over beige cloth covered boards with yearling photo on the cover in about very good condition showing moderate use. 8vo., 55pp. Signed & dated by Vickers on the front free endpaper followed by another signature of N. Stalle date 1963 as well. Included is 1 1/3pg. ALS dated Aug. 29th 1963, The Plains / Fanquier County / Virginia USA / addressed to: Sir Wintringham Stable / Edgbaston, Birmingham, 15. [UK]. A chatty letter about "the spotsman owned thoroughbred fast becoming overruled by thoroughbred industrialists" & the readyness of three year olds to race with references to equine physiology. An interesting item. Contains a plea to eliminate early training of horses so that they are not broken down at an early age. Includes: They Deserve Better Treatment, Early Days of a Thoroughbred, The Significance of Early. (Horse Racing, The Turf, Flat Thoroughbred Bloodstock), etc.
