Seller: OldBooksFromTheBasement, Maryland Heights, MO, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. This VG- book was published by Thompson & Thomas of Chicago in 1902; it is 7-5/8" x 5" with 205 numbered pages; if it was issued with a jacket, there is none now. There is a frontis + 2, all on coated paper and all are present and firmly attached. The book has a slight lean and is reasonably clean. The front corners are bumped with minor fabric damage, the bottom edges have significant wear with several spots where the boards are showing; head and heel of the spine are bumped and the heel has wear to the fabric. Spine lettering and illustration have wear but are still discernible, except for the publisher's name at the bottom. The front panel has slight wear but both lettering and the illustration look quite good. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and paper damage of any sort. The paper is very slightly toned and very flexible but it is not brittle; end pages have a modest amount of toning. Both hinges are very strong and not weakened in any way; the front hinge has much of the paper covering it missing--ripped, I presume, when the FFEP was removed. However, the strength of the hinge has not been compromised.
