Glossy monochrome (b&w) lithographed urban scenes in a familiar format: these are based on photography with artists' touch-ups and reproduced on a single long leaf folded accordion-style. Find 36 plates (several are vignette multiples and one a double panorama), the long leaf coated and tinted orange-y cream with red line-drawn frames for each image, the enclosing 4x6 inch red cloth folder is embossed and decorated in black & gilt (front cover) and in blind (back cover), it is a little shaky from age and handling, the long leaf ditto with a short closed tear at one fold-line; moreover, expect a quarter-inch adhesion scar upon das Konigliche Opernhaus. A small corner of back cover is faded to pink. A fair to good-only exemplar.

It became a leading California tourist destination and was often used as scenes for movies, including "Gone with the Wind". As a theme park, Busch Gardens paved the way for modern parks including Disneyland.

16x 11cm., being 34 high contrast photography plates which are fine, bright and clear, descriptions on the verso of each plate in Italian, Spanish, English & German, laid in crimson colour cloth over boards with colour title plate on the upper cover, double-page endpaper street map of Napoli, slight edge on the boards else a fine copy (tr.ds). ~ A very attractively bound viewbook with a sunset view with Mount Vesuvious in the background. Many of the photos feature Mount Vesuvius also as well as the many significant buildings.

Printed by Charles A. Lawes & Co., Printers, Chicago. 1904 First and only edition. Oblong, 10.25" x 6.75", brown soft card covers with embossed iridescent gilt titling to front, small printers device to middle of the rear cover, red string tied and staple bound, 72 unnumbered pages (complete as issued, collated with copy held at University of Illinois), handsomely illustrated throughout with 34 pages of black & white photographs including industries, homes, and parkland, displayed within a decorative border. The text describes Paris including specific businesses, cultural and civic institutions. VERY GOOD Condition: light wear and a few small scuffs to the covers, and spinefolds, light top outer corner-tip bump affecting inner pages, spots of light foxing, and light signs of wear, otherwise, tight, bright, clean and unmarked. A solid and lovely copy of this scarce viewbook. OCLC records only two copies held, rare book rooms of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and Vigo County Public Library Indiana. The Commercial Club of Paris, a forerunner to the Chamber of Commerce, was an elite group of successful businessmen and a few women who were actively promoting the economic and cultural development of the city (all of whom are noted at the rear of the book). With this very descriptive 1904 publication they showcase the scenic beauty of the city of Paris and its existing commercial and cultural prosperity, while simultaneously seeking to grow Paris into a leading modern industrial center and a very desirable business and family friendly place to come and live.

First edition. An uncommon Colorado viewbook published by W.H. Lawrence, booksellers and stationers from Denver. Very detailed plates of the Garden of the Gods, Manitou, Alpine Pass, Middle Park, and others. Several of the scenes include railroads and trains. Interesting trade card of W. J. Roudy and Co. of Colorado Springs, dealers in mounted birds, furs, skins & robes, attached at rear. OCLC cites 9 listings under this title, and of the same pagination, though varying dates. 9x14cm, [18] plates, accordion style, followed by 8pp text. Original embossed red cloth boards stamped in gilt. Taxidermist trade card pasted to inside of rear board. Some wear at rear hinge, boards a but dulled. Very good.

"the only way here._____"  The day of writing she has received a set of upper false teeth ("and my mouth feels rather full") and expects to get the lowers shortly._____  It being January they "have been having a little taste of winter "20 below zero."
