Published for the ten-year commemoration, this volume is dedicated to the memory of 359 soldiers of the Ukrainian National Republic Army, who were executed at the village of Bazar, in North-Western Ukraine, by Bolshevik forces on November 23, 1921. The battle at Bazar was one of the last efforts of the NRA's Volynhia group during the Second Winter Campaign, a last-ditch effort by the Ukrainian Army to defend Ukrainian independence against the Soviets. The Ukrainian People's Republic (UPR), the first free Ukrainian state, which was established following the February Revolution of 1917. The volume documents the fateful events through eyewitness accounts, original poetry and prose, contemporary drawings and portraits of the participants, as well as numerous maps and schemes depicting the Army's movements. It also contains the complete list of 359 executed army members. Among the contributors were Oksana Pechenih, Mykola Overkovych, P. Vashchenko, M. Chyzhevs'kyi, Ievhen Malaniuk, S. Chornyi, D. Zorenko, Bohdan Lepkyi, and others. The wrapper was created by L. Volodarchyk based on a study by O. Shpilins'kyi. Other vignettes and drawings, including portraits of military leaders, are by Iurko Naumenko, L. Perfets'kyi, Henrikh Kuttner, Mykola Kharytonenko, and others.
