Add to basketSquare clothbound notebook of lined paper with a paper panel on the front signed by the author and dated 1906. Fifty-four numbered four-line stanzas mostly four to a page, rectos only, in the author's hand, blue ink. A 55th stanza was evidently intended, but not written. The fourth stanza gives something of the flavour and aim (or lack of aim) of this meandering poem: ''It is no doubt a pretty thing/To have a sort of Theme;/But here there's nothing of the kind,/Though strange as this may seem.'' The notebook also contains an untitled poem of 54 pencilled lines celebrating Italy. Loosely inserted: a sheet with pencilled notes towards a poem; two slips of paper each with the author's signature. Colwyn Edward Vulliamy (1886-1971) was a biographer and historian who also wrote crime fiction under the name Anthony Rolls.Very good.
