Nesbit; text collates as complete but book is missing at least its original preliminary and terminal leaves; Table of Contents specifies 93 pages but leaves are unnumbered and only 39 leaves (i.e. 78 pages present). Pages 25-26 and 29-30 are bound out-of-sequence as are several illustrated leaves. Page decorations as well as color and b/w illustrations are by Edna Longest, several of which imitate the idealized feminine style most often reflected in the contemporary work of Harrison Fisher and the "Gibson Girls" of Charles Dana Gibson. Edna Longest illustrated at least one Saturday Evening Post cover for the August 27, 1910 (Vol. 183 - #9) issue. OCLC only locates copies of this Chicago Charles C. Thompson imprint at three member institutions plus a single copy of a Toronto imprint of the same book held by Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa. …
