Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1888. Hardcover, History of the City of Toledo and Lucas County, Ohio is a large, heavy, detailed historical reference work compiled by Clark Waggoner in 1888. It documents the development of Toledo and Lucas County through extensive records, biographies, township histories, military accounts, social organizations, industries, and more. The author presents facts, rather than narrative or discussion. Features: Original binding, except spine (not cloth or completely rebound in leather). Original 3/4-leather and pebble finish, gilt lettering, gilded on all three edges, 956 pages including illustrations, vivid photos, biographies, index of individuals, and a colored illustration of Lucas County. Endpapers have been replaced with a flower pattern paper to help support the binding (no cracked hinges). Condition of binding: tears, rubbed areas, bumps, chips, scattered abrasions to top and rear covers (spine covering in Fine condition). Internally: creases to upper corners of several pages. Scattered foxing/offsetting (mostly to overlaid tissues covering photos) and some of the same to various photos. All tissues present. Virtually all pages are clear and very readable. Forner owner attached his bill of sale for the book from the publisher on blank page in the preliminaries. Overall, book is in Good condition. Very Collectible.
