The Caddos lived in the Southeastern Woodlands for more than 900 years beginning around AD 800-900, before being forced to relocate to Oklahoma in 1859. They left behind a spectacular archaeological record, including the famous Spiro Mound site in Oklahoma as well as many other mound centers, plazas, farmsteads, villages, and cemeteries. The Archaeology of the Caddo examines new advances in studying the history of the Caddo peoples, including ceramic analysis, reconstructions of settlement and regional histories of different Caddo communities, Geographic Information Systems and geophysical landscape studies at several spatial scales, the cosmological significance of mound and structure placements, and better ways to understand mortuary practices. Findings from major sites and drainages such as the Crenshaw site, mounds in the Arkansas River basin, Spiro Mound, the Oak Hill Village site, the George C. Davis site, the Willow Chute Bayou Locality, the Hughes site, Big Cypress Creek basin, and the McClelland and Joe Clark sites are also summarized and interpreted. This volume reintroduces the Caddos' heritage, creativity, and political and religious complexity.

Unbound. Condition: Fine. Index cards. Each measuring 5" x 3". Overall fine with occasional pencil or ink notes on the rear identifying the artist: one card with tack holes and another with a tape repaired tear. A group of 39 index cards featuring sketches by various comic strip and humor cartoonists of the late 1970s and early-1980s. Most well-known of the group are Chester Gould (*Dick Tracey*), Mort Walker (*Beetle Baily*), Cathy Guisewite (*Cathy*), Bill Keane (*Family Circus*), Russell Myers (*Broom-Hilda*), and Don Trachte (*Henry*). The collection appears to have been assembled by three individuals collecting autographs of cartoonist they liked. Most of the artists responded with a basic pen and ink sketch, though some are more elaborate than others. Other notables includes five cards by *New Yorker* cartoonists Arnold Roth, Jerry Marcus, Howie Schneider, and Garrett Price, a frequent cover artist for the magazine during the '40s and '50s; and syndicated political cartoonist, Bill Schorr. A lovely collection of original comic strip and cartoonist art. A complete list is available upon request.
