First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 1978 FIRST EDITION (U.K.) hardcover with dust jacket. Well-preserved UNREAD COPY with bright, unmarked pages. Jacket shows very minor shelf-rubbing only. This is NOT an ex-library book and not a remainder. Nice copy! 192 pages, includes index. "You might have thought that being the managing director of a large, successful company wouldn't leave a lady in her eighties with much energy to spare. In Mrs Walker's case you would be wrong. Some of her other interests are field sports, writing and cooking. As the daughter of a shooting man, wife and mother of anglers (her son is the celebrated angler Richard Walker) she has long noticed that many sportsmen's skill at taking their prey greatly exceeds their knowledge of what to do with it next. This is her solution. In his Foreword to the book Maurice Wiggin writes that 'she has shown us that exquisite good taste is not incompatible with resourceful practicality.' Every recipe included in the book bears this out. Whatever the occasion, a celebration dinner or a simple supper after a day in the country, there is a dish to match it. Apart from her recipes, Mrs Walker's many entertaining tales of sporting life make the book a fascinating one. On a more practical level, it is a cookbook for the sportsman with his own bag to draw from and also for those who must buy for the table. Detailed instructions are given on such essentials as choosing and preparing game and fish, home freezing, and the correct accompaniments to the various dishes, including the selection of wines.".

Hard Cover. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Walker, A G (illustrator). Creasing and small tears to the edges of dustwrapper, the dustwrapper has been mended on the back with tape, fading to spine; old damp-marking to blue cloth-covered boards, an outer page has been torn out (probably had a previous owner's name on), otherwise a not too bad copy. No publication date given, but the book was originally published in the early 1900s. I suspect that this copy would be a later printing, maybe 1930s? A profusely illustrated work on the Gothic Westminster Abbey within London, looking at its illustrious history. 'Annals of Westminster Abbey' looks at the history of Westminster Abbey, a large Gothic Abbey within the center of London. It is one of the most notable religious buildings of Britain, and has been the place of centuries of historicals cornations of burials of the British monarchs. Written by E. T. Bradley, also known as Mrs A. Murray Smith. Profusely illustrated a frontispiece, and with engravings on almost every single page, and with one folding plate. Illustrated by W. Hatherbell, H. M.
