Wallace, published by Auburn: Wm. J. Moses in 1853. Not an ex-library copy, there is rather prominent staining of paste down and loose end pages front and back, a curved li…ne of light-brown staining on practically every page's lower portion(but never obscuring any textual words), and quite a bit of underlining, all in fairly light pencil, on 15-20 pages, which I took care in erasing/eliminating about 98% of.The book/essay itself, parts of which may have been presented at the Genesee(NY) Conference of the M. E. Church, reads like a primer on how to lead a perfect life/transform oneself into a perfect human being. From Chapter XIII, "LIVE IN PRAYER. This is indispensable to a spiritual life. The soul should be preserved in a frame of perpetual prayer, because it is constantly dependent on God for all its supplies.Maintain this spirit everywhere, and at all times"(!). If the author's words are meant for a gathering of fellow clergy, then the thrust of his essay is slightly more realistic/understandable to me. At any rate, this is some book.
