Een Duitse brontekst wordt ook aangenomen door Lucy van Aken en de Catalogus der bibliotheek van de Maatschappij der Nederlandsche Letterkunde.Hoewel de uitgeverij Van Walré's naam droeg, werd de zaak in feite gedreven door zijn compagnon Jan David Vreugdewater, met wie hij in zijn leertijd had samengewerkt bij uitgever Jan Bosch.
