Gilt decorations and titles. All edges gilt. Very good condition. Some shelf wear, rubbing and bumping. Volume 1 with some damp staining. Both volumes show mild age darkening and occasional mild foxing. Overall a very nice set in a sturdy attractive binding.

Walsh arrived in Constantinople in 1821 as chaplain to Lord Strangford's embassy. The journey described in this work took place in 19824/5 and describes his return to England. In 1830 Walsh returned to Constantinople and remained there until 1835. Blackmer 1764.
