Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. SIGNED on the title page in faded ink, this is the first trade edition, not the limited edition. The brilliant illustrations are by A. H. Watson. Some are in colour on fine art paper, others are in mono. All are splendid, matching the wonderful stories. In near fine condition for its age. No other inscriptions or annotations. Some pages have some slight tears, which was common in those days when books were often sold with uncut pages. However, this is all superficial and rather adds to the period charm. RARE in a signed first edition. Signed by Author.

Enclosed with this copy is the prospectus. But the chief factor about this copy is the signature of the author, very neatly placed above the title in ink, which has faded slightly over the years.

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. A rightly celebrated anthology, with a famously gorgeous jacket and illustrations by Barnett Freedman. This was featured in the brilliant Pallant House exhibition. Walter de la Mare has signed this on the title page. It is a third impression, and there is an inscription on the half title, but that is neat and discrete. There are many gems here, from all periods. The jacket is less damaged than most copies of this book. There is a protecting sleeve on it now. The binding is tight and the charming vignette by Freedman on the cover is fresh looking when its age is allowed for. Signed by Author.

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Fine. Limited Edition. Beautifully signed and numbered on a limitation page, copy number 18 of only 500 copies. Fabulous stylish illustrations by Lovat Fraser! A justly celebrated collection from this always fascinating author. Grading this as Fine takes into consideration the age issued, 1934. That's even older than I am, folks! I'm a fan of WDLM, and have been since I was a nipper in the last century. Beautifully bound in cream buckram with a great lily cartouche on the cover. Clean and tight binding and a bit of a bonus; on the inside endpaper there is a contemporaneous bookplate, very stylish, and named for May Vreeland. It has what I assume is an original clear wrapper. An altogether delightful collector's item. Signed by Author.
