Ex-church library copy with large bookplate (Rushford Baptist Church, Rushford, New York) upon front pastedown but with no other such library marks present. Original blue cloth well rubbed, board corners worn, spine ends frayed, spine's gilt stamping rubbed but still fairly bright. Soiling…to front free endpaper; pencil inscriptions upon front flyleaf and rear endpapers. Binding shaken between copyright page and the opposing page 9 (which is the first page of Chapter 1) and thus it is likely that the book is missing at least one or two interlaying leaves but book's text otherwise collates as complete. One quire slightly pulled; some foxing upon interior leaves. Text title/copyright leaf preceded by a frontispiece and pictorial title page. Eunice White Beecher (1813-1897) was the wife of the Reverend Henry Ward Beecher and sister-in-law to Harriet Beecher Stowe. An uncommon title by the popular Mrs. Beecher.
