Cover features image of the wild swans at center, phoenix rising at top, and dragons below w/included title sashes surrounding and borders filled w/flowers, butterflies, and stars. Thick pages generally very good w/newer pastedowns and endpapers at front, back; few at front mended w/acid-free adhesive. Gilt page edges. Bind intact. Illustrated with a dozen magnificent chromolithographic designs in colour with captioned page guards after original drawings by Eleanor Vere Boyle. Ornate decoration throughout. The eight tales comprise: 'The Wild Swans'; 'The Ugly Duckling'; 'The Fellow Traveller'; 'The Little Mermaid'; 'Thumbkinetta'; 'The Angel'; 'The Garden of Paradise'; and, 'The Snow Queen'.
