[112], [56]pp. Original half cloth over marbled paper covered boards, with title label pasted to each front cover. Label with Gerhard Warnat's name and Steglitz (Berlin) address on inside of each front board. This striking two-volume manuscript contains handwritten notes in German (Sueterlin) analyzing weaving patterns of various fabrics, yard runs, roping runs, mill arithmetic, cost, etc. Includes drafts, hand-drawn diagrams, hand-colored patterns and mounted fabric samples (swatches). Plates with mounted samples and hand-colored patterns protected with a tissue-guard. The "Musterausnehmen" volume contains 158 mounted and 5 loose textile samples, while the "Bindungen" volume contains 3 mounted and 5 loose samples. The volumes belonged to Gerhard Warnat, a Berlin textile-clothing apprentice, who obviously took his apprenticeship to heart as attested by the remarkable conception of his thesis and the meticulous, beautiful handwriting. Minor shelf wear and rubbing along edges. Lower margin of three leaves at the beginning of the Musterausnehmen volume partly dented (not affecting text, samples or illustrations). Text in German, Sütterlin script. Bindings and interior in overall good to very good, samples in very good condition.
