Signature of Joel Atwater (1769-1837), CT politican as f/o in ink on two pages, full brown calf leather, some repairs along spine which is chipped and the leather somewhat dry, and lower rear corner, missing fep, 343pps w/index; also Hymns and Spiritual Songs selected from Dr. Watts, Dr Doddridge and various other writers, by Timothy Wright, president of Yale College, about 200pps; also A Table of First Lines to find any hymn by the first line (taped page). Occasional foxing but not obtrusive. Watts was an English hymnwriter who put each of the psalms in metric form so that they could be sung. Beautiful literature and highly popular.Bibliophile Alert!
