Soft cover. Condition: Fine. Original publisher's red and blue paper wrappers with staple binding. Illustration of a birdhouse and flying swallow on front cover. Original typed letter on beige Wyatt & Watts stationery laid in. Letter signed in black ink by a representative of Wyatt & Watts. Book measures 5" x 7." Letter measures 8" x 10." Book: sixty-four pages, complete. Letter: two pages, complete. Book is virtually pristine and intact except for some age toning on pages and covers. Letter is a bit wrinkled, has horizontal and vertical fold lines, and a few small spots. A chip is also on one of the letter's pages but does not affect text. A Fine book with a Very Good letter. Irene Victoria Crawford writes an instructional yet uplifting book about spiritual and mental wellness. Crawford offers her advice on how to approach everyday life, how to manage one's thoughts and emotions, and how to be a good citizen who helps others. The chapters: "Friendship," "Playing the Game of Life," "Running True to Form," "Getting Tired of Ourselves," "The Power of Faith," "Making a New Beginning," "Each Has Some Part to Play," "Doing the Write Thing," "Footprints on the Sands of Time," "The Pilgrimage of Life," and "The Power of Determination." In the letter, a Wyatt & Watts representative writes to Crawford about the sales of several of her books. He goes over sales figures and profits and addresses an ongoing dispute in which Crawford claims that she never agreed to one of her book titles being sold at a lower price. The following is an excerpt from the letter, "The result of your sales this year, on your behalf, should, I think, prove very gratifying to you, seeing that your net return will be a good deal higher than ours. I am more than surprised to find in your letter a flat denial to ever having agreed to the price of the books being reduced." The representative proceeds to explain his recollection of their transactions and reassures Crawford that her sales were actually higher than expected. Signed By Publisher.

Add to basketUndated but believed to be from 1930s, so a Scarce early edition. A Vintage Nautical Folding Sheet Map, linen-backed for durability, in Very Good + condition. A rare and beautifully preserved original 1930s maritime chart; exceptionally clean and bright, with vivid lithographed colours. Without annotations or heavy salt water staining. Prepared by Captain Oswald M. Watts, this edition covers the English Channel from the Goodwin Sands to Selsey Bill. Unlike later paper-only versions, this copy features the original linen backing, making it an excellent candidate for framing or historical collections. There is some shelf wear and flaking/loss to the two outer cover panels but the chart has no missing sections; the linen remains strong and provides excellent structural integrity. There is a small number of tiny open chips to edge of the sheet, i.e. which do not impinge on the chart itself. There a number of small closed tears, of which two extend a few millimetres on to the printed section of the chart. There are a few small and negligible brown marks, but mainly only on the border not on the chart itself. Occasionally there is some very small wear at the points where there is a four way fold in the chart. Also minor handling wear, and on the linen side of the chart grubbiness along some of the folds.
