First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 180 pages. Published in 2020. Retrospective Exhibition Monograph. The very first comprehensive volume on the significant art and achievement of Keltie Ferris. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. The production values are outstanding in every respect: Oversize-volume format. Red cloth boards with pale-gray titles imprinted on the cover and spine, as issued. Art by Keltie Ferris. Essays by various contributors, notably John Yau and Wayne Koestenbaum. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Istanbul, Turkey to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Published on the occasion of the retrospective exhibition of the same name held at Mitchell-Innes Gallery New York and Moran Moran Gallery Los Angeles in 2020. Presents "Keltie Ferris: A Decade". A transgender artist, now firmly established as a major mainstream figure, whose mesmerizing art does NOT explicitly refer to gender identity or fluidity, not even in his/her "Body Prints", in which he/she uses his/her body to make prints. Keltie Ferris is addressed in the book as "she" while just as consistently online, not just on Amazon or Wikipedia, she is referred to as "he". Take your pick. "Known for his large-scale, energetic, brightly chromatic abstract canvases layered with spray paint and hand-painted geometric fields, Ferris makes staunchly analog paintings that draw inspiration from a wide range of subjects: From the broken-up pixelation of digital images and rubbed-out graffiti on New York streets to the glimmering city lights visible from his Brooklyn studio at night. He has commented that 'bedazzled energy and bright artificial light' are prevalent inspirations for his sensibility, which joyfully deploy 'painting's full arsenal'. Explores the past ten years of Ferris' career, examining his style and technique in this beautifully bound and visually stimulating volume" (Publisher's blurb). The works themselves in this gorgeous book are dazzling fusions of Abstract Expressionism - both the loud and aggressive Jackson Pollock as well as the more lyrical and tender Helen Frankenthaler - and Urban Graffiti Art. What a joy they are to behold. An absolute "must-have" title for Keltie Ferris collectors. This copy is magnificently signed in blue ink-pen on the title page by Keltie Ferris. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is an instant collectible and contemporary art book classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with color plates. One of the most brilliant American artists of our time. A fine copy. ISBN 1734405201. Signed by Author.

Photograph
Vintage press photograph of actor John Wayne and his admirers celebrating outside of a courtroom on June 12, 1953. Two press stamps on the verso. Wayne's marriage to his second wife, Esperanza Diaz Ceballos Morrison, was turbulent, with allegations of abuse and infidelity on both sides. The couple separated in May of 1952, and in the preliminary divorce hearings in the spring of 1953, Morrison demanded a substantial increase in alimony ($9000 a month instead of Wayne's offered $900) and a restraining order against the actor. The hearing was decided in favor of Wayne, and he would go on to marry his third (and final) wife, Pilar Pallete, the following year. Esperanza would die of a heart attack four months after the divorce proceedings, at age 31. 9 x 7 inches. About Near Fine, with light wear at the corners.
