Broadside, with several typefaces, including large wood type, printed in four colours on Mohawk Superfine, which includes quotation from Clifford Burke's 'Printing Poetry. A work of typographic reflection'; 52 cm. x 37 cm.; The Wayzgoose Press, Katoomba, NSW, 1998. Edition limited to 76 copies, this version one, being one of 50 unnumbered copies printed for Typomania, an international portfolio of artists' prints (version two was limited to 26 copies printed on Mohawk Superfine). *This year Typomania left the choice of subject to individual participants. 'We decided to celebrate the joie de letterpress with LEAD AIN'T DEAD- the simple message printed in two colours from large wood letters, using a heavily stepped make-ready which gave the type a toothsome texture. A stock block of a little dove trailed a thin red streamer across the wood type (making use of our recently discovered talents for bending metal, the streamer was printed from a lead rule). . Broadside, printed in several shades of gun-metal grey, with linocut by Mike Hudson; 58 cm. x 43 cm.; The Wayzgoose Press, Katoomba, NSW, 2003. Number 14 of 15 copies, signed by Mike Hudson. *The subject for the 2003 Typomania portfolio was Reform. "We imagined a kind of Tower of Babel, a dysfunctional, crumbling edifice whose building blocks were the initial letters of global institutions like the IMF, UN, NATO, G8 et al, which rose high into the skies but those who climbed it never made any progress. The structure was undermined by a circular arrangement of a multiple printing of the word "reform" trailing behind a saw blade which was sawing away the very ground from under the tower's foundations." Jadwiga Jarvis, The Wayzgoose Affair. The image also shows a businessman on a mobile phone walking around the top of the tower via stairs. A slightly different smaller version was produced for inclusion in the Typomania XVII Portfolio, an international portfolio of artists' prints, printed on Eiderdruck.

Broadside, printed in seven colours, with linocut by Mike Hudson; 50 cm. x 35 cm.; The Wayzgoose Press, Katoomba, NSW, 2002. 70 copies produced for Typomania XVI, this being one of a small number of artist's proofs, signed by Mike Hudson & Jadwiga Jarvis. *'Hans Hergot, a contemporary of Martin Luther, was a printer and travelling book-seller from Nuremburg. He printed Reformation pamphlets criticising the Catholic Church and promoted his own vision of a social Utopia, much to the displeasure of the authorities. His anti-establishment stance eventually led to his beheading in May 1527. . The Hans Hergot broadside focused on the protagonist's rejection of the values of the Catholic Church. We chose to express it through a bold linocut image showing a brick to which the message raus (out) is tied by rosary beads, flying through the page and heading for the nearest (though unseen) stain-glass window. Being an image of protest. we kept the colour stark and limited, though in reality the broadside went through the press many times to enhance the graphic's 3-dimentional qualities.' Limitation not stated. *Jadwiga Jarvis, in The Wayzgoose Affair (2007), writes: 'PRINTING BY HAND AIN'T NO PICNIC was a humorous and fairly accurate explanation of the origin and meaning of the word "wayzgoose" (a printers annual picnic) accompanied by a woodcut depicting Mike and I sharing a bottle of wine over a type case balanced on the back of a recumbent kangaroo. The title, set in three lines of wood type, progressively deteriorated in quality, putting flesh on the sentiment it expressed. .'. A text quoting Madeleine Albright's (the then Secretary of State) assessment of sanctions as being among "some of the most powerful weapons in our armoury" was countered by "some sobering UNICEF statistics attributing the deaths of more than 500,000 Iraqi children under five years old to embargo related causes. The illustrations were cut in lino and the whole printed in seven colours." Jadwiga Jarvis, The Wayzgoose Affair. According to Trove, two versions exist for this broadside.
