Flush-cut…plain card covers with the attached printed wrappers with wide French flaps; a fine copy. 'The text for this article on the Dodo first appeared in "The Penny Magazine" of June 1st 1833' (introductory note). What pagination there is appears in reverse order from number 10, and appears only on the recto of the leaves printed with the text of the article. The opposite pages carry extensive annotations, printed in light green. 'The text progressively takes over the pages, leaving less and less space for the hapless bird, until finally only a lone feather surrounded by type is left to remind us that there ever was such a creature as the dodo' (from the original prospectus). Number 18 of 75 copies signed by Mike Hudson and the printer, Jadwiga Jarvis (and one of only 52 bound thus). Signed by Author(s).
