Pg.X, 276, (2).Modesta coperta muta coeva. Legatura assai allentata. Esemplare in barbe. Il secondo volume, mancante, contiene "Riflessioni su l'arte della pittura pel trad…uttore aggiunte alla versione italiana dell'opera di Daniele Webb". Versione italiana, dopo quella veneziana del 1791, dell'operetta "An Inquiry into the Beauties of Painting", opera dell'irlandese Daniel Webb (Maidstown, 1718 ? 1798), che fu amico del Mengs durante il suo soggiorno romano. L'Opera venne accusata di plagio dal Winkelmann. > Cicognara, "242, "Il primo volume è consecrato alla versione del testo, il secondo contiene la riflessione del traduttore. La filosofia delle arti si svolge assai bene in quest'opera". Schlosser Magnino, 656 e 674, "Vero breviario del classicismo inglese". Opera non censita dal Brooks. 400 gr.
